Ingemar Fredriksson is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Medical Technology, Linköping University, with a unique role bridging academic research and industrial innovation. He works at Perimed AB, a company specializing in microcirculation assessment tools developed from IMT research.

His research focuses on model-based biomedical optics, using computational models and optimization to extract detailed microvascular data from optical measurements. This work extends traditional laser Doppler and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy by enabling absolute flow quantification, oxygen saturation mapping, and vessel-type-specific analysis.
Recent publications highlight his work on multi-exposure laser speckle contrast imaging and multispectral imaging for real-time, high-resolution microcirculation mapping. These methods are integrated into Perimed's PF 6000 EPOS system, combining perfusion and oxygen saturation measurements. Current efforts involve transitioning from point measurements to camera-based imaging systems for spatially resolved clinical assessment.
Collaborations include Tomas Strömberg (Professor), Marcus Larsson (Associate Professor), and Martin Hultman (Assistant Lecturer), with applications in diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and post-surgical monitoring. His teaching involves examinatorship for TBMT01 (Biomedical Technology course).
