Ingelise Andersen serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health, Section of Social Medicine at the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. Holding multiple advanced degrees (PhD, MA, MPH) and registered nursing credentials, she leads the Prevention and Rehabilitation research group while co-leading the THRIVE initiative focused on Tackling Health Inequalities and Extending Lives.
Her research program centers on social epidemiology with particular emphasis on health inequality mechanisms, especially regarding coronary heart disease and depression. Key investigation areas include labor market dynamics, psychosocial work environments, and equity in healthcare systems. Her methodological approach combines longitudinal analysis with cross-national comparative studies, particularly examining Nordic healthcare models.
Recent publication trends reveal strong focus on vulnerable populations across multiple health domains - cardiovascular disease, cancer survivorship, diabetes management, and dental health. Her work consistently examines how socioeconomic factors mediate health outcomes through pathways like dietary behaviors and healthcare access. Geographic scope spans Denmark with significant comparative work across Nordic countries.
Andersen actively contributes to academic training through the Master of Public Health program, administering and lecturing in the 'Advanced Social Epidemiology' PhD course. She supervises bachelor's, master's, and doctoral projects while delivering specialized lectures on prevention strategies and health inequality frameworks. Her research collaborations extend internationally, reflected in multi-country studies of elderly care systems and disease management programs.
