Ingela Rådestad is the Dean of Research and a Professor at Stockholm University of Health Sciences. Her work focuses on improving care for parents experiencing stillbirth and advancing fetal movement monitoring. She developed the Cubitus baby cooling aid to support families and pioneered the 'Mindfetalness' method to detect fetal distress early. Rådestad is a licensed midwife with over 20 years of research experience, contributing to 100+ international articles, textbooks, and 11 doctoral defenses as an opponent. She currently supervises a doctoral student and serves on the university's management team.
Education:
- PhD in Midwifery (1998), thesis: 'Giving birth to a dead child – Postpartum care and the woman's situation three years after the child's death.'
Research Focus:
Her studies emphasize preserving parental-child bonds through innovative cooling aids and empowering pregnant women to monitor fetal movements. Recent projects assess how Mindfetalness reduces stillbirth rates and investigate birth outcomes when fetal movements decline.
