Inge Van Hulle is an Associate Professor at the Division for Roman Law and Legal History within the Faculty of Law and Criminology at KU Leuven. Her research focuses on legal history, international law, and colonial legal frameworks, with a particular emphasis on Africa and Europe.
Her recent projects, such as the comparative study of concession contracts in Belgium and Congo (2024–2028) and the analysis of female legal authorities in colonial Asante (2022–2024), reflect her interdisciplinary approach to understanding the intersections of law, culture, and colonialism.
Van Hulle has contributed to seminal works including chapters in The Cambridge History of International Law and The Individual in International Law. She also co-authored the interactive legal history walk Rechtshistorische wandeling door Leuven, blending academic research with public engagement.
As promotor of multiple long-term research initiatives (e.g., 2022–2032) and member of key academic bodies like the Scientific Committee KADOC and the Faculty Council of Law and Criminology, she plays a central role in shaping legal historiography and comparative law studies.
