Associate Professor Dr. iur. Inga Kačevska serves as the International Relations Coordinator at the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia, where she teaches specialized courses in international law and arbitration. With over 20 years of academic experience, she has established herself as a leading expert in private international law within the Baltic region.
Her educational background includes a PhD in International Law (2010), Master's Degree in Oriental Studies (2008), Law Diploma (2000), and LLM in International and Comparative Law (2001) from Chicago Kent College of Law. This diverse academic foundation supports her interdisciplinary approach to legal scholarship.
Professor Kačevska's research focuses on private international law, international civil procedure, international trade law, alternative dispute resolution, sports law, and investment law. Her work demonstrates how theoretical legal frameworks interact with practical commercial realities, particularly in the context of Baltic and European legal systems. She has published extensively on arbitration law, with particular attention to the New York Convention's implementation in Latvia and the region.
Her recent publications reveal a consistent focus on the practical application of international legal instruments within national contexts, especially regarding arbitration agreements, recognition of foreign judgments, and EU regulations in civil matters. The scholarly trajectory shows increasing engagement with EU legal frameworks and their interaction with traditional international arbitration principles.
