Dr. Inez Verwey is an Associate Professor at Nyenrode Business University, affiliated with the Faculty Research Center for Accounting, Auditing & Control. Her expertise focuses on audit quality, fraud detection, and forensic accounting. She holds a PhD from Nyenrode Business University (2014) and has extensive experience as a public auditor and forensic accountant. Prior to academia, she worked at a Big 4 firm and transitioned fully to research in 2008. Verwey’s research examines auditor capabilities in fraud identification, emphasizing differences between public auditors and forensic accountants. She collaborates internationally with institutions like the University of Florida and Northeastern University. Her work frequently addresses ethical idealism, professional skepticism, and audit procedures in fraud contexts. Verwey is a member of the BKO-committee and actively presents at conferences like the AAA Forensic Accounting Research Conference. Beyond academia, she is an avid scuba diver, exploring remote diving spots.
