Ines Alvarez Boulton is a Lecturer in Economics and International Business at Aston University's Aston Business School. Her research focuses on firm performance, innovation, and the intersection of social/environmental goals with economic outcomes. She holds a PhD from King’s Business School (King’s College London, 2024) and an MSc from the LSE (2018). Prior to academia, she worked in the non-profit sector.
Her research interests include comparative international studies, innovation dynamics, and poverty alleviation strategies. Recent work examines how social/environmental orientation influences UK small businesses' innovation, exporting, and growth, particularly during the pandemic. She collaborates on projects analyzing deprivation effects and policy implications for small enterprises.
Teaching includes International Business courses. Her publications explore Schumpeterian outcomes and social entrepreneurship's role in addressing poverty. Active in policy-oriented research through the Enterprise Research Centre, her work bridges academic insights with practical business challenges.
