Inanna Hamati-Ataya is a Professor of Global International Relations at the University of Groningen, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts. She holds leadership roles as Director of the Centre for International Relations Research (ICOG) and Founding Director of the Centre for Global Knowledge Studies (gloknos). Her research focuses on interdisciplinary themes including the global politics of science and technology, existential risk, and the historical sociology of knowledge. She has held previous academic positions at the University of Cambridge, Aberystwyth University, and the American University of Beirut.
Education: PhD in Political Science (2006) from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, with a focus on epistemological foundations of International Relations theory. She also holds a B.A. and M.A. in Political Science from the same institution.
Research grants include an ERC Horizon 2020 Consolidator Grant (€1.4M) for the ARTEFACT project on global political history and an ERC Proof of Concept Grant for NOAH, addressing ancestral agricultural knowledge preservation. She has authored over 20 books and articles, including works on reflexive epistemology and the sociology of knowledge.
