Imogen Wegman is a Lecturer in Humanities and Coordinator of the Family History program at the University of Tasmania. She specializes in colonial history, focusing on cartography, environmental history, and the intersection of Indigenous and colonial landscapes. Her research uses digital tools to uncover stories of everyday life in colonial Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania). She holds a PhD in History from the University of Tasmania and has taught at the institution since 2021, previously serving as Associate Lecturer (2020–2021).

Research interests: Environmental history, Australian colonial history, cartography, and the role of maps in erasing Indigenous presence. Wegman has published on colonial mapping practices, land grants, and rivers as colonial highways. She co-founded A Pint of History, a public history initiative connecting academic research with general audiences.
Recent articles explore how colonial maps erased Indigenous communities, the cultural history of borders, and the socio-economic dynamics of land ownership in early Australia. Her work bridges academic research with public engagement through speaking engagements, library consultations, and community projects.
