Immaculada Real López

Immaculada Real López is a Lecturer in the Department of Romance Studies and Applied Foreign Languages at the University of Rouen Normandy, within the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences. She holds a Doctorate in Art History (2015) and advanced degrees in Preventive Conservation of Art. Her research focuses on Republican exile, historical memory, museology, and Francoism. Previously, she taught Contemporary Art and Museology in Mexico (2015–2017). She is affiliated with ERIAC (UR 4705), a research unit specializing in cultural and political spaces.

Education: Doctor of Art History (2015), DEA and Master of Preventive Conservation of Art and Cultural Property.

Research interests include the artistic heritage of Republican exiles, Francoist repression, and the role of museums in preserving historical memory. She has published extensively on these topics, including books like El Laboratorio de Formas y las políticas de la memoria (2018) and edited volumes such as Patrimonio artistico en el exilio (2017). Her work bridges art history, museology, and political history, emphasizing marginalized narratives and institutional memory.

Her articles and chapters analyze themes like women’s experiences in exile, the museological representation of historical trauma, and transnational artistic networks. She has curated exhibitions, including Iconos de lo español (2017) and Dibujo y compromiso en la obra de Blasco Ferrer (2014). She is a member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), Asociación Historiadores del Presente (AHP), and the CIHDE research group at UNED.
