Imants Baruss is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at King’s University College, part of The University of Western Ontario. His research focuses on consciousness studies, altered states, and postmaterialist theories. He teaches courses on consciousness, religion, and spirituality. Current projects include investigating after-death communication through cell phones and directing the experimental program 'Toward a New Paradigm' in Latvia.
Baruss has authored eight books including Death as an Altered State of Consciousness (2023) and over 80 papers. He serves as Associate Editor for Journal of Scientific Exploration and is a fellow of multiple societies like the Society for Consciousness Studies. His 2003 teaching award recognizes excellence in pedagogy.
