معرفی
Dr. Imad Barsoum is an Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Khalifa University, specializing in the fields of additive manufacturing, constitutive and failure modeling of metals and plastics, fracture mechanics, and finite element analysis. Prior to his academic role, he gained extensive experience as a research scientist in the European automotive industry.
- Ph.D., Solid Mechanics, Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), 2008
- M.Sc., Mechanical Metallurgy, University of Utah (USA), 20022
- B.Sc., Materials Engineering, Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), 20000
His research focuses on advanced manufacturing techniques, material behavior under stress, and structural design optimization. Key projects include fracture mechanics-based design for oil casings, numerical investigations of 3D-printed lattices, and modeling of residual stresses in additive manufacturing. He serves as Theme Lead and Deputy Director of the Advanced Digital & Additive Manufacturing (ADAM) research center.
Dr. Barsoum has received educational accolades, including the nationwide Think Science Award 2018 for his senior design team. He mentors several graduate students and collaborates with international institutions like the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden. His work is affiliated with the Emirates Nuclear Technology Center and the ADAM Research Center.
