Ilya Segal is the Roy and Betty Anderson Professor in the Humanities and Sciences at Stanford University's Department of Economics, with a courtesy appointment at the Graduate School of Business. His work bridges microeconomic theory, game theory, and industrial organization, focusing on mechanism design, bargaining, and communication complexity.
- Education: Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University (1995), M.S. in Applied Mathematics from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (1991).
His research explores optimal auction design, property rights efficiency, and incentives in dynamic economic environments. Recent work addresses radio spectrum reallocation and robust auction mechanisms. Publications span top journals like Econometrica, American Economic Review, and Journal of Political Economy.
