Dr. Ilse Corkery is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences, University College Cork (UCC). She holds a BSc (Hons) in Zoology from UCC and a PhD in Ecology from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. Her research focuses on conservation, spatial ecology, bird biology, and forest ecology, with emphasis on applied solutions to anthropogenic impacts. She currently leads the ADAPT Project, developing tools for avian diversity and afforestation planning. Her work integrates ecological interactions between species, such as tuatara and seabirds, to inform conservation strategies. She previously lectured full-time in Biodiversity Management at NorthTec, New Zealand.
Her research interests include spatial ecology, predator-prey dynamics, and thermal biology. She has contributed to studies on seabird behavior, reptile physiology, and conservation biology. Her publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches to understanding ecological systems.
Ilse actively engages in outreach, including attending the World Science Forum 2015. While specific grants or advising details are not provided in the text, her work demonstrates a focus on applied conservation outcomes. She is affiliated with UCC’s Ornithology Research Group, contributing to projects like the ADAPT initiative and seabird monitoring strategies.
