Ilknur Lider is a Turkish Instructor and Turkish Program Coordinator at the University of Pittsburgh's Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, Department of Linguistics, where she has taught Turkish language and culture since 2008 through the Less Commonly Taught Languages Center. She serves as Turkish Minor Advisor, University Honors College fellow, Chair of the Turkish Nationality Room, and advisor for the Turkish American Student Association (TASA).
She holds an MPIA degree from the University of Pittsburgh and is ACTFL-certified as an Oral Proficiency Interviewer for Turkish. Her educational expertise includes developing curriculum for Turkish language courses and a general education course on Turkish Culture & Society.
Her research examines second language acquisition with emphasis on communication strategies like circumlocution and language competency development. She integrates cultural narratives into language pedagogy to help students connect classroom learning with real-world contexts and become discerning global observers.
Lider mentors students for nationally competitive scholarships, coordinates the Turkish Language Table for immersive cultural practice, and serves on university scholarship committees to support student development beyond formal coursework.
