Feride Hatiboglu is a Lecturer in Foreign Languages and Coordinator of the Turkish Language Program at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Arts & Sciences, Department of Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures. She also teaches Turkish Cinema through the Penn Language Center. She has been instrumental in expanding the Turkish language offerings to include Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced, and Ottoman Turkish levels since joining Penn in 2005.
Her research and professional interests center on Turkish language pedagogy and assessment. She is certified by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) in Oral and Written Proficiency in Turkish and actively contributes to the development of Turkish language testing programs as a consultant for American Councils in International Education. Her work supports the teaching of less commonly taught Turkic languages in the U.S.
Dr. Hatiboglu is actively involved in professional organizations, serving as President Elect of the National Council of Less Commonly Taught Languages and Treasurer of the American Association of Teachers of Turkic Languages (AATT) and the American Research Institute in Turkey (ARIT).
She has supervised numerous Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTAs) from 2005 to 2023, contributing to language instruction and mentorship within the program.
