Ilka Flöck

Dr. Ilka Flöck serves as a Research Associate within the Professorship for English Linguistics at the Institute of English Studies (IES), Leuphana University of Lüneburg, contributing to theoretical and applied linguistic research across multiple interdisciplinary projects including Interact4School, QualiTIES, and the Irish English Research Network.

Her research program centers on English Linguistics with deep specialization in Pragmatics, particularly Variational Pragmatics and the sociolinguistic features of Irish English. She employs corpus-based methodologies through the LinA-Lab to investigate Foreign Language Pragmatic Development across contexts, while also exploring intersections with Ethnic and Religious Minorities studies, North American Studies, and Creative Non-Fiction. Her work bridges theoretical linguistics with pedagogical applications in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).

Dr. Flöck actively participates in two specialized research laboratories: the LinA-Lab for Corpus Linguistics (focusing on Field and Laboratory Methods) and the TEFL Lab dedicated to flipped classroom pedagogy. These labs support her investigations into language acquisition dynamics and innovative teaching frameworks within the university's Language Skills development initiatives.
