Dr. Ilia Xypolia is Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at University of Aberdeen, specializing in imperialism, human rights, and Middle Eastern politics. Her research examines colonial legacies in the Eastern Mediterranean and critical analysis of human rights discourse in international relations.
Research interests include US foreign policy, corruption measurement, and post-colonial state formation. She serves as Reviews Editor for the Journal of Global Faultlines and is an academic fellow of the Mercator Program Center for International Affairs.
Publications include monographs on British imperialism in Cyprus and human rights in US foreign policy. She teaches courses on human rights, global power shifts, and conflict resolution.
