Ilan Lobel is a Professor of Technology, Operations, and Statistics at New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business, where he has been a faculty member since 2010. He holds the Robert L. & Dale Atkins Rosen Faculty Fellowship and is the incoming Academic Director of the Andre Koo Technology and Entrepreneurship MBA Program. His academic work bridges operations research, economics, and technology, with a focus on pricing, market design, and learning in networks.
His research interests include:

The work frequently appears in top journals such as Management Science, Operations Research, and Review of Economic Studies, and addresses real-world challenges in ride-sharing, gig economy regulation, and algorithmic decision-making.

Lobel has advised numerous students, many of whom have co-authored papers with him and received student paper awards. He teaches Decision Models & Analytics across BS, MBA, EMBA, MSBA, and MSQM programs. He currently serves as an area editor for Operations Research and associate editor for Management Science. He earned his Ph.D. in Operations Research from MIT in 2009 and was a post-doctoral researcher at Microsoft Research New England before joining NYU Stern.
