Iida Alasentie is a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Helsinki's Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, based at the Ruralia Institute in Seinäjoki. She serves as a research assistant supporting various research projects and organizing training programs. Her work focuses on sustainable food systems, climate-smart agriculture, and public meal resilience across Nordic and Baltic regions. Key areas of expertise include dairy sustainability, crisis management in food systems, and stakeholder engagement in policy development.
Alasentie holds a Master's degree in Food Science and actively contributes to projects funded by the EU, Finnish Ministry, and other institutions. Notable projects include the Climate-Smart Dairy initiative analyzing Finnish dairy stakeholders, the YDIRE project enhancing resilience in short food supply chains, and the StratKIT+ program expanding sustainable public meal practices. She regularly participates in conferences and workshops, such as the Nordic Food Systems Experts' Workshop and Food Days Seinäjoki.
Her research emphasizes cross-border collaboration, policy analysis, and innovative solutions for food system challenges. She has published extensively on topics like Nordic food systems sustainability, dairy sector resilience, and public catering adaptation in crises. Alasentie's work bridges academic research with practical implementation, aiming to strengthen both environmental and socioeconomic dimensions of food systems.
