Ignacio Elpidio Dominguez Ruiz

Ignacio Elpidio Domínguez Ruiz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and Sociology at the University of Santiago de Compostela's Faculty of Political and Social Sciences. He holds a PhD from the Autonomous University of Madrid (2019) with a thesis on Madrid's cultural promotion through World Pride 2017. His research focuses on urban sociology, LGBT studies, and tourism.

Research interests include:

• Sociology of urban spaces and gentrification
• LGBTQ+ communities and activism
• Cultural promotion and tourism
• Victimization studies and restorative justice
• Boundary work in policing systems

His publications primarily investigate spatial aspects of LGBTQ+ experiences, police victim support systems, and urban transformations. Recent work examines anti-LGBTQ+ victimization patterns across geographic regions and post-pandemic recovery of queer spaces.
