Professor Ainsley Iggo was a prominent academic in veterinary physiology and pain research, affiliated with the University of Edinburgh. He served as Chair and Professor of Veterinary Physiology at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies (Dick Vet) from 1962 onward, following a tenure as Lecturer in Physiology at the Medical School of Edinburgh University. His work focused on mechanisms of sensation and pain, contributing significantly to the field of physiological neuroscience.
Professor Iggo held prestigious honors including Fellowship of the Royal Society (FRS) and Royal Society of Edinburgh (FRSE), receiving the RSE Bicentenary Medal in 1997.
