Idil Abdi Muhumed

Idil Abdi Muhumed is a doctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki, affiliated with the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry and the Department of Food and Nutrition. Her research focuses on Nutrition, particularly examining breastfeeding practices among immigrant populations in Finland and the impact of migration on early childhood health outcomes.

Her work contributes to understanding how sociocultural and environmental factors shape dietary behaviors and health disparities in immigrant communities. Current projects include analyzing data from the FinChildren survey and participating in the DAGIS-seuranta study (2022–2026), funded by the Academy of Finland, which investigates how early childhood environments affect adolescent lifestyles and academic performance.

Her recent publications in the Journal of Migration and Health and doctoral thesis highlight her expertise in Public Health and Population Health, with a focus on Migration Studies, Child Health, and Health Equity.
