Idiatou Bah is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Forestry, Geography and Geomatics, Université Laval. She holds a Ph.D. in Land Use Planning and Regional Development from Université Laval (2023), a Postdoctorate in Administration from the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières (2023), a Graduate Certificate in Management-Leadership from McGill University (2014), a Master's in Land Use Planning from Université Laval (2002), a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Quebec in Montreal (1995), and a Certificate in Economics from the University of Montreal (1993).
Her research focuses on African geography and geopolitics, sustainable development frameworks, and multilevel resource governance. Specific interests include:
- Africa's geopolitical relationships with Asia
- Sustainable land use planning methodologies
- Corporate social responsibility in extractive industries
- Local content development policies
- Multilevel governance models for natural resources
Dr. Bah currently supervises four Master's students in Geographical Sciences:

She leads several active grants including:
- Technologies modernes et Implication des jeunes pour une gouvernance foncière durable au Bénin (CRSH, 2025-2026)
- Réforme foncière, occupation coutumière et genre à Madagascar (FRQSC, 2025-2028)
