Ica Manas-Zloczower is the Thomas W. and Nancy P. Seitz Professor of Advanced Materials and Energy and Distinguished University Professor at Case Western Reserve University's Department of Macromolecular Science and Engineering. She holds appointments in the Case School of Engineering and has served as President of the International Polymer Processing Society (2011–2013). Her research focuses on polymer processing, recycling thermosets via dynamic chemistry, and developing bio-based materials for renewable energy applications. She has advised 37 PhD, 30 M.S. students, and numerous postdocs/undergraduates, with over 225 peer-reviewed publications and 100+ conference contributions. Key honors include the 2017 SPE Fred E. Schwab Education Award and 2017 George S. Whitby Award.
Education: BS/MS in Chemical Engineering (Polytechnic Institute Jassy, Romania), ScD in Chemical Engineering (Technion-Israel Institute of Technology), Postdoctoral Fellow (University of Minnesota).
Research Interests: Mixing phenomena, thermoset recycling strategies, bio-based composites, high-performance materials modeling, interfacial engineering. Current work emphasizes circular economy approaches through dynamic chemistry and sustainable material design.
Publications: Recent work includes studies on TPU/CNS nanocomposites, vitrimerization of thermosets, and self-healing epoxies. Her articles address challenges in polymer recycling, nanocomposite design, and material performance optimization.
Awards: 2017 SPE Fred E. Schwab Education Award, 2017 George S. Whitby Award, 2012 American Chemical Society Fellow, Society of Plastics Engineers Fellow.
Professional Contributions: Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Polymer Engineering (1999–2014), authored the 2009 book Mixing and Compounding of Polymers. Active in international conferences with over 95 keynote/plenary lectures.
