Dr. Ibrahim Yildiz serves as an Associate Professor and Group Lead in the Department of Chemistry at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi. Appointed in 2013 as an Assistant Professor, he was promoted to his current rank in 2022 and teaches General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry using diverse pedagogical tools including modeling software and online platforms.
His educational background:
- PhD in Organic Chemistry, University of Miami (2004)
Research focuses on drug delivery and imaging via supramolecular assemblies, with recent work developing biocompatible polymers as nano-reactors for intracellular transition metal-catalyzed reactions. These systems enable pro-drug activation, fluorescent molecule synthesis, and chemotherapeutic production within cellular environments. Earlier research spanned nanoparticle applications in biomedicine and materials science, complemented by computational modeling of reaction mechanisms and environmental chemistry studies.
Scientific Awards:
- No awards documented in source text
Dr. Yildiz actively supervises research projects and leads a team including Post-doctoral Research Associate Tariq Shah. His current work centers on polymer-based delivery systems for intracellular chemistry, utilizing commercially available macromolecules to create micellar nanostructures compatible with biological environments.
Research operations are conducted through his chemistry group, which specializes in bridging organic synthesis with biomedical applications through polymer engineering.
