Ian Stimpson is a Senior Lecturer in Geophysics at Keele University's School of Life Sciences, serving as School Examinations Officer. With over 30 years of research experience, he investigates natural/induced earthquakes, anthropogenic hazards, near-surface geophysics, and geoconservation.
His research spans geothermal energy applications, geophysical analysis of glacial deposits, industrial heritage archaeology, Staffordshire geology, rock mechanics, and geological education. Current projects include subsurface characterization using novel geophysical methods and conflict archaeology investigations.
Stimpson's recent publications showcase his forensic geophysics expertise, including geophysical monitoring of simulated burials, conflict site investigations (WW1/WW2), and development of XR educational tools. His work consistently applies multi-method geophysical approaches to archaeological and forensic problems.
