Ian Rosenstein

Ian Rosenstein is an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Chair of the Chemistry Department at Hamilton College, where he has served since 1994. He teaches advanced organic chemistry courses and mentors undergraduate research projects.

Rosenstein’s research integrates radical chemistry with metal-catalyzed coupling reactions, enabling multi-step carbon-carbon bond formation in single sequences. His work on chiral auxiliaries has advanced stereoselective radical addition reactions.

He maintains active collaborations, such as with Prof. Camille Jones on inelastic neutron scattering studies of propylene oxide dynamics in clathrate hydrates. His lab emphasizes undergraduate involvement, with multiple student co-authors in publications and conference presentations.
