Professor Ian Jacobs serves as President and Vice-Chancellor of UNSW Australia (Group of Eight member) since 2015, following leadership roles at Queen Mary University of London (1999-2004), University College London (2004-11), and University of Manchester (2011-15). He has pioneered gynaecological cancer research and public health initiatives globally.
- Education: BA/MA from Trinity College Cambridge, MBBS from Middlesex Hospital, MD from University of London
His research focuses on ovarian cancer screening and cervical cancer prevention, including the PROMISE programme funded by Cancer Research UK and the Eve Appeal. He developed the ROCA algorithm for ovarian cancer risk assessment and led the UKCTOCS trial involving 202,000 participants. His work spans clinical oncology, biomedical sciences, and health policy.
