Ian Cotton

Ian Cotton is Professor of High Voltage Technology at the University of Manchester, where he leads research in power systems and aerospace electrical engineering at the High Voltage Laboratory. His part-time appointment balances academic work with industry engagement through aHV Solutions.

• High-voltage aerospace systems (SAE AIR6127 development)
• SF6 reduction in power transmission
• Composite materials for overhead lines

Recognized as Bhattacharyya Award Finalist (2022) for university-industry collaboration with National Grid. Supervised 15 PhD students to completion.
