Ian Cockburn

Prof. Ian Cockburn heads the Immunology Division at ANU's John Curtin School. His lab investigates T cell responses to malaria, focusing on liver-stage immunity and vaccine design.

Landmark work established mechanisms of liver-resident memory T cells in eliminating Plasmodium-infected hepatocytes. Collaborations include NIH-funded vaccine trials and intravital imaging studies with Institut Pasteur.

Awards include the Finkel Prize (2015) for parasite immunology research. Current projects explore antibody feedback mechanisms in vaccine efficacy and atypical B cell responses.
