Dr. Ian Cleland serves as Research Director at the School of Computing, Ulster University. He holds a B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Ulster University. His research focuses on digital health solutions combining wearable/pervasive computing with AI/data science to enable personalized healthcare. Key areas include sensor-based activity recognition, synthetic data generation, and technology-enabled care for patients with conditions like Parkinson’s and dementia.
