Ian Burt serves as Associate Professor of Accounting and Chair of the Accounting Department at Niagara University's Holzschuh College of Business Administration. He directs the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, engaging over 80 student volunteers annually to provide free tax preparation services for low-income families in the Niagara community.
His educational qualifications include:
- B.S. from Cornell University (member of Cornell Men's Ice Hockey Team)
- M.S. in Accounting from Michigan State University
- Ph.D. in Accounting from University of Waterloo
Research focuses on employee incentives, Internal Auditors' organizational identity, tax ethics, and management tools, bridging theoretical accounting principles with practical auditing and taxation applications. His dissertation proposal earned dual recognition from major professional bodies.
