Kathleen Johnston is an Associate Professor of Accounting in the Department of Business at Messiah College. She is a Pennsylvania Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and operates her own CPA firm specializing in corporate, partnership, trust, and individual tax preparation and planning. Professor Johnston teaches courses in Individual Taxes, Business Taxes, and Financial Accounting, and partners with the United Way of the Capital Region to manage the Messiah College VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) site for lower-income taxpayers.

Her professional experience includes public accounting at KPMG as a tax accountant, Senior Corporate Accountant and Sales & Marketing Accounting Manager roles at The Hershey Company, and teaching accounting and mathematics at Harrisburg Area Community College. She is affiliated with the National Association of Tax Professionals, Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), and the Christian Business Faculty Association (CBFA).
