Ian Braithwaite is a Senior Lecturer in the BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing Practice program at the University of Sunderland. He has been a registered Adult Nurse since 2008 and holds a PGCE from the university. His teaching focuses on student-centered approaches, emphasizing emergency care, reflective practice, and digital learning innovations such as podcasts. He joined the nursing team in 2023 after previously teaching on the BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science and Out of Hospital Care programs.
Key achievements include the 2021 Student Nominated Teaching Award and the 2022 Most Inspirational Staff Member Award. His work integrates simulation-based learning to enhance non-technical skills and patient safety. He leads the NRS-101 Bio-psychosocial Principles of Health and Wellbeing module and advocates for digital tools in health education.
