Bernie Wells is a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Programme Lead at the University of Sunderland's Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellbeing, specializing in Paramedic Science and Out of Hospital Care. He qualified as an Advanced Technician in 2006, registered as a Paramedic in 2008, and earned a BSc (Hons) Practice Development (2012) and MSc in 2015 from Northumbria University. After completing his PGCE in 2019, he joined the University of Sunderland in 2018.

Research and Teaching Focus:
Bernie's expertise centers on Emergency and Out of Hospital Care, with particular emphasis on End of Life (EoL) and Palliative Care. He developed a dedicated EoL vehicle through collaborations with local hospices and teaches research modules across BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science and Out of Hospital Care programs.
