Professor Iain Todd serves as Partner Lead for the Henry Royce Institute and Challenge Area Lead for Materials 4.0 at the University of Sheffield, where he has driven Additive Manufacturing (AM) research since joining as a Lecturer in 2003.
His academic foundation includes:
- BEng in Metallurgy (University of Sheffield)
- PhD in Solidification (University of Sheffield)
Todd's research spans Materials Science with emphasis on Additive Manufacturing, Materials 4.0 (digital materials development), Metallurgy, Solidification, and Nanostructured Materials. His career bridges industrial R&D at T&N Technology with international academic experience at TU-Delft, Netherlands Institute for Metals Research, and CENIM Madrid.
Key recognition includes:
- Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (2023)
