معرفی
Iain Lyall is a Lecturer in Design and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Wolverhampton's Faculty of Science and Engineering. His career spans technical apprenticeships, applications engineering, and academia, with expertise in advanced manufacturing systems, additive manufacturing (ALM), and materials development.
- BEng (Hons) in Engineering, University of Wolverhampton (2000)
- Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
Lyall specializes in additive layer manufacturing (ALM), focusing on optimizing precious metals and metal matrix composites for ALM, design for ALM, and integrating ALM into manufacturing systems. His research also extends to materials characterization and development.
Recent publications include studies on copper-silver alloys using laser powder bed fusion (2020) and earlier work on holonic systems in knowledge-based manufacturing (2002). These reflect interests in metallurgy, composite materials, and AI-driven manufacturing frameworks.
- Scientific Awards:
- Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
Lyall's teaching focuses on advanced manufacturing, including computer-aided machining, quality control in additive manufacturing, and design for additive manufacturing (AM). He has contributed to redeveloping the university's engineering department with £12 million in manufacturing investments.
