Georgina Miranda is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Materials Engineering and Ceramics (DEMaC) at the University of Aveiro and an integrated member of the CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials since 2020. She specializes in additive manufacturing, powder metallurgy, and laser processing technologies, with a focus on multi-material components and biomedical implants.
Her research interests include:
- Additive manufacturing of metal alloys
- Powder metallurgy for metal matrix composites
- Laser modification of metals and ceramics
- Tribology and mechanical property optimization
- Energy applications in material design
Recent publications span topics in laser processing, interpenetrating composites, and biomedical coatings. She has secured multiple research grants and collaborates with European projects.
Scientific recognition includes:
- Inclusion in Stanford’s Top 2% Scientists list (2021-2024)
She supervises 10 PhD and 21 Master’s students and leads the Materials Design and Manufacturing Laboratory at CICECO.
