Dr. Iain Nicholl is a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Science at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Wolverhampton. With a PhD from the University of Dundee and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from Wolverhampton, he has contributed extensively to cancer research and structural biophysics.
- Research areas: protein-protein interactions, DNA repair, advanced glycation endproducts, and protein structure/function
- Teaching: cell biology, genetics, molecular genetics, and protein biochemistry
His work focuses on aspirin analogues' anti-cancer mechanisms and cadherin-catenin complex dynamics using neutron spin echo spectroscopy. Key findings include NF-κB repression in colorectal cancer and mechanotransduction insights via vinculin binding.
Scientific contributions include:
- 2016: Patent for novel aspirin analogues
- 2016: HEA Fellowship for teaching excellence
Grants & Collaborations:
- 2019-2022 SIRC grant (UK Government/ERDF) for industry-academia research
- International collaborations in cancer and biophysics
Labs & Teams:
- University of Wolverhampton Biomedical Sciences lab
- Collaborations with ILL Grenoble and global researchers
