Dr Iain MacKenzie is an Associate Professor in the Department of Politics at the University of Kent. He joined the university in 2005, having previously held roles at Queen's University Belfast and Middlesex University. His research focuses on critical political theory, particularly the concept of 'pure critique' inspired by Kant, Deleuze, and Guattari. Current projects explore the nature of critical events, dramatization as a political method, and the relationship between creative practices and resistance.
MacKenzie teaches courses on feminist contributions to political theory (undergraduate) and political resistance strategies (postgraduate). He supervises doctoral students in areas such as feminist theory, poststructuralism, and political events. His publications include books like Resistance and the Politics of Truth (2018) and Dramatizing the Political: Deleuze and Guattari (2011), alongside numerous articles in journals like Theory & Event and Contemporary Political Theory.
His work bridges philosophy and politics, emphasizing the application of critical theory to contemporary social issues. Key themes include institutional critique, the role of creativity in resistance, and the analysis of political events through poststructuralist frameworks.
