IGNACIO DIAZ BLANCO

Ignacio Diaz Blanco is a Full Professor at the Department of Electrical, Electronic, Communications and Systems Engineering (DIEECS) within the University of Oviedo. He obtained his Industrial Engineering degree (1995) and PhD in Industrial Engineering (2000) from the same institution, with a thesis focused on fault detection in industrial processes using signal processing and neural networks.

Research Focus: His work centers on data analysis and visualization techniques for complex engineering and biomedical processes, with applications in machine learning and visual analytics. He has participated in European and national R&D projects, including CECA/RFCS and five National R&D&I Plan initiatives.

Academic Leadership: Since 2004, he has supervised seven doctoral theses and accumulated 3 six-year research periods and 1 six-year transfer period. His recent publications (2017–2022) include 11 JCR-indexed papers, 10 of which are in Q1 journals.
