I. George Miller Jr., MD, is a Professor at Yale School of Public Health and Yale School of Medicine, holding the John F. Enders Professorship in Pediatrics. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), particularly the switch between latency and lytic replication. He also investigates anti-viral agents targeting EBV reactivation and the role of transcription factors in viral-host interactions.
- Appointments: Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases, Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry
- Education: MD (Harvard Medical School, 1962), AB (Harvard College, 1958)
- Research: EBV and KSHV latency, transcriptional regulation, immune response, viral oncogenesis
- Clinical Practice: Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital and outpatient clinics
His publications span virology, oncology, and molecular biology, with a focus on herpesviruses and their role in cancers. Collaborators include Lee Heston, Eugene Shapiro, and Joseph Craft. Affiliations include Yale Cancer Center, Yale Medicine, and the Yale Combined Program in Biological and Biomedical Sciences.
Recent studies highlight mechanisms of viral gene expression, immune regulation, and epidemiological patterns of HHV-8. His work has implications for anti-viral therapies and understanding virus-driven oncogenesis in immunocompromised populations.
