- Born: 1982, Seoul, South Korea
- Education: MA (2009) and Ph.D. (2016) in Philosophy
Kim’s research bridges two core domains: German idealism (particularly Kantian philosophy) and the philosophy of artificial intelligence. His work explores interdisciplinary intersections between classical epistemology and modern AI ethics, critical psychology in the Kantian tradition, and bioethical frameworks for artificial intelligence humanities. Through 30 peer-reviewed papers and five authored/edited books, he investigates how Enlightenment-era philosophical principles inform contemporary digital and AI challenges.
Kim’s publications reveal a focus on applying Kantian epistemology to AI explainability (e.g., 2022’s Unexplanable Explanable AI) and foundational ethical frameworks (e.g., 2020’s Groundwork of Artificial Intelligence Humanities). His keyword themes span Philosophy, Artificial Intelligence, Epistemology, and Bioethics, with sub-fields addressing AI Ethics, Algorithmic Transparency, and Digital Humanities.

Kim has secured significant third-party funding, including projects like Self-aware AI (Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research) and Critique of Artificial Reason (South Korea’s National Research Foundation). He also leads a collaborative Artificial Intelligence Humanities initiative and a Korean translation project on Kant’s correspondence. His keynote at the 9th Siegen Kant Conference (2021) highlights his international recognition.
