Dr. Kim's research investigates leisure behavior across diverse populations including veterans, individuals with physical disabilities, and pregnant women. Her methodology integrates qualitative, quantitative, and mixed approaches to examine psychological benefits of leisure experiences, travel reminiscence functions, and Paralympic legacy impacts. Key contributions explore how leisure activities influence happiness, life satisfaction, and memory processing in specialized contexts.
Analysis of her 2019-2022 publications reveals consistent interdisciplinary themes: examination of leisure's role in veterans' mental health, assessment of accessible tourism through Paralympic spectator experiences, and investigation of pregnancy-related travel constraints. Her work demonstrates methodological diversity while maintaining focus on therapeutic recreation applications within tourism psychology frameworks.
In her administrative capacity as co-program director, Dr. Kim shapes curriculum development and program strategy for recreation education and therapy initiatives at Lehman College, fostering integration of research findings into academic training.
