Huzefa Kagdi

Dr. Huzefa Kagdi serves as Dean of the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering and Full Professor of Software Engineering at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), a position he has held since 2021. Previously, he was Department Chair (2019–2021) and Associate Professor with tenure at Wichita State University. His leadership philosophy combines servant and transformational approaches, emphasizing student-centricity and resource optimization.

Education: PhD (Computer Science – Software Engineering), MS (Computer Science), and BE (Computer Engineering). Teaching focuses on introductory computer science/software engineering courses and advanced topics in software evolution, maintenance, and empirical methods.

Research centers on software data science, mining repositories, and program comprehension, with over $500K in external funding from NSF, NetApp, and industry partners. He established the Software Engineering Research and Services (SERS) lab, achieving international visibility through top-tier publications and collaborative projects.
