Huw Morgan

Huw Morgan is an Assistant Lecturer at the Musikhochschule Luzern and Principal Trumpet of the Sinfonieorchester Basel. He is a Yamaha Artist and founder member of the brass ensemble Septura. His career spans solo performances with orchestras such as the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, and Helsinki Philharmonic, alongside guest principal roles with the London Symphony Orchestra and Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

Education includes studies at Chetham’s School of Music, the Royal Academy of Music (London), and the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (Switzerland), under teachers like John Dickinson and Frits Damrow. His expertise lies in contemporary music—premiering works by Leif Segerstam and Karl Jenkins—and solo recordings, including the acclaimed Naxos Records series The Art of the Modern Trumpet (volumes released 2019–2021).

Award-winning performer with over 30 commercial recordings, Morgan’s discography includes EMI, Decca, and Chandos labels. He is a sought-after guest professor and masterclass leader across Europe, North America, and Asia.

Key achievements include BAFTA recognition for film soundtrack contributions and competition wins at Prague Spring, Lieksa, and Girolamo Fantini. His teaching focuses on brass pedagogy and performance excellence.
