Hui Cao

Hui Cao is a Research Fellow at the School of Molecular Sciences, University of Western Australia, and a member of the ARC Centre for Plant Energy Biology. His work focuses on advancing crop quality breeding through proteomic technologies, particularly in wheat. He holds a PhD in Plant Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2021) from UWA and a Master’s in Crop Genetics & Proteomics from Capital Normal University (2014). Before academia, he worked in the biotech industry (2015-2017).

• High-throughput proteomic platforms for agricultural breeding
• Energy use efficiency in crop protein production

• Chief Investigator in the ARC-funded project 'Dissecting 70 years of wheat breeding via proteome-wide association study' (2025–2025)
