Hugues Desbrousses is an Associate Professor-Researcher at the University of Nîmes (France), affiliated with the Design Department and the MAST program. He is co-director of the Master's degree in Design Innovation Society and a member of the social innovation research team PROJEKT. His work bridges design practice and social innovation, focusing on collaborative projects with vulnerable communities.
Education:
- 2002: Graduate of the National School of Industrial Creation (ENSCI les Ateliers).
Research & Practice:
Desbrousses leads research in social innovation through design, particularly in the 'Espaces Vivants' residency project, collaborating with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders, artists, and social workers. He also participates in the PROJEKT lab exploring design ethics, material processes, and vulnerability-focused methodologies.
Teaching:
He teaches across undergraduate and graduate programs at the University of Nîmes, including the Arts Design Degree, Textile Professional Degree, and the Design Innovation Society Master's program. Previously held part-time lecturer roles from 2011–2022.
Professional Experience:
Since 2002, he has worked as a freelance designer collaborating with institutions like Necker Hospital (Paris), Fondation 93, and companies including Logo (TAG Heuer/Fred) and Sanbri. He has also led interior design projects and educational initiatives in schools.
