Hugo Tremblay is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, Université de Montréal, specializing in environmental law, water law, and natural resources management. He holds a PhD (Dundee), LL.M. (Laval), LL.B. (Montréal), and B.A. (McGill). His research focuses on comparative law, climate change, and public international law. Affiliated with the CRDP and the Chair in International Trade Governance, he leads and collaborates on projects addressing water governance, environmental policy, and legal frameworks for sustainable development.

Research Interests: Professor Tremblay’s work bridges legal systems and environmental challenges, emphasizing aquatic ecosystems protection, climate change adaptation, and transboundary water management. He explores the intersection of law and ecology in federal systems, such as Canada’s, to address biodiversity and governance fragmentation.
Grants and Projects: He leads/co-leads projects like Identifying the Dark Components of PFAS (2023–2026), ATRAPP (2016–2022), and Le droit des ressources naturelles et de l’énergie (2017–2019). These address environmental policy, water quality, and energy law.
- Students Supervised: 7 Master’s theses since 2017, focusing on climate aviation, environmental accountability, biodiversity governance, and Arctic hydrocarbon development.
